Beard, Mustache, Goatee, and Sideburns Transplantation

Beard, Mustache, Goatee, and Sideburns Transplantation

A facial hair transplantation is a hair restoration procedure in which the scalp hairs are moved to be transplanted on the patient’s face where the hair is thinning or absent. The procedure can be performed on beards, sideburns, goatee and mustache areas. The donor hairs are harvested from the back of the head the same as in scalp hair restoration surgery. The method of graft harvesting, either FUT (strip technique) or FUE (follicular unit extraction), will be determined at the time of consultation. The shape of the beard, mustache, goatee and sideburns needs to be designed by experienced surgeon and discuss with the patient prior to surgery. Once the shape is designed, the surgeon can measure the area and give a rough estimation of how many grafts needed to be transplanted. The procedure is done under local anesthesia.
